Albert Richard Wilke, age 88, of Sheboygan, passed away Monday March 11, 2013 at Meadow View Manor. He was born June 14, 1924 in Dorchester, WI. a son of the late Richard and Elsie (Pueschner) Wilke. Albert attended St. Dominic Grade School and was a 1942 graduate of Sheboygan Central High School. During World War II, Albert proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a Tech 4 with the 692nd Engineer Special Shop Battalion, working as an Amphibian Engineer and a diver in the South Pacific Theater from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946. In 1946, he met Antoinette Reklaitis. They married in 1948 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Soon after, the couple started to build their new home, finishing in March of 1950. Albert loved spending time with his wife Toni. He also enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He was employed by the Vollrath Company over 39 years, retiring in 1986. Albert was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church where he served on the funeral committee. He was a member of the Catholic War Veterans and the Vollrath � Century Club. Surviving Albert is his loving wife, Toni; his caretaker and niece, Wendy Koll and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Myrtle Mulvaney; two nephews, Dave Mulvaney and James Reklaitis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Albert on Saturday March 16, 2013 at 12:00 P.M. at St. Dominic Catholic Church. Reverend Philip Reifenberg, Pastor, will be celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery where military honors will be accorded. Friends may call at St. Dominic on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass. A memorial fund has been established in his name. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Meadowview Manor for their care and compassion.
