Allen C. Collins, 88, of Sheboygan, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2017 at Sunny Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born February 26, 1929 in Fond Du Lac to Pearl Collins. Allen proudly served in Army National Guard. On July 1, 1950 he was united in marriage to the love of his life Dorothy A. Sonneman in Sheboygan, she preceded him in death on March 28, 1996. He then was united in marriage to Dorothy J. Brion on December 28, 1996 in Junction City, she preceded him in death on May 21, 2013. Allen worked at High-Lite Polishing and Plastics Engineering. Having a strong faith, he was very active with his churches, serving as a Sunday School Superintendent and Elder. Allen was an avid reader, and he enjoyed writing children's stories. His passion and love of music was evident when he played the accordion and guitar, he also loved listening to gospel music. His talents were unending and shined in his painting and drawings. He also enjoyed his time as "Grandpa" when he volunteered at the Early Learning Center in Sheboygan.
Allen is survived by his daughters, Cheryl (Ted) Peschke of Random Lake and Bonnie (Mark) Herman of Sheboygan, by seven grandchildren; April (Bill Andrews) Wilterdink, Kacy (Andy) Canton, Derek (Kimberly) Wilterdink, Natasha (Dallas McLaughlin) Peschke, Angela (Matthew Miller) Herman, Kristin (Nathan) Crane, and Matthew (Ashtyn Schwake) Herman, by twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, by his step-children; Dale (Su) Brion, Bonnie (Kenneth) Suemnicht, Robert (Sara) Brion, Melvin Brion, William (Fran) Brion, and Laura (Bill) Butterfield, he is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, mother, both wives, and his grandson Dustin.
A memorial fund will be established in Allen's name
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 12:00 NOON at Ballhorn Chapels Funeral & Cremation care Center, 1201 N. 8th St. Sheboygan, with Rev. DuWayne Hanke officiating. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
