Angeline “Angie” (Van Engen) Bartz, age 99 passed away peacefully at her home on July 13, 2022.
Angeline was born on June 18, 1923, to the late Gerhardt Sr. and Alida Louise (Van Camerdijk) Van Engen in Sheboygan Falls. She was baptized at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls and was confirmed at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Sheboygan.
On October 4, 1947, she was united in marriage to Marvin A. Bartz (W9MYG) at Immanuel Lutheran Church. They were blessed with two daughters, Martha and Nancy. Marvin preceded her in death on May 1, 1992.
Angie attended Immanuel Lutheran School and Central High School. She was a professional secretary and bookkeeper and a parish secretary for both Immanuel Lutheran Church and First Presbyterian Church, retiring in January 2009.
Angie and her sisters, Louise and Anne sang on local radio stations as the “Harmonettes.”
As a previous member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, she served as a Sunday School teacher, sang in the choir, was a member of the Altar Guild, and served on their 100th anniversary committee. She is currently a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Sheboygan.
She is survived by her daughter and beloved caregiver, Martha Bartz of Sheboygan and her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy (Bartz) Voss and her husband, Dale Voss of Kohler.
Angie is further survived by her nieces and nephews: Rodney (Carol Frederick) Van Engen, Jean Reinbacher, Carol Van Engen, Betty Van Engen-Fusch, Gloria Van Engen, Joan (Conrad) Zimmermann, Richard (Jeanette) Van Engen, Beverly (Gannigan) Van Engen, Mary Lou Beeck, Kathleen (Richard) Kettner, Judith Frank, John (Linda) Van Engen, Diane (Max) Alonzo, Michelle (Jonathan) Kalman, Alberta Harder, Conrad (Jeanne) Holling, Alida (Bruce) Gross, Mark (Nancy) Holling, Willem Roelof (Wim) Van Engen and family in the Netherlands, Janice Bartz Murrell, James (Jan) Bartz, Richard (Jenny) Bartz, Diane Bartz (Tom) Dixon, Paul Kitzerow, Steven Kitzerow, and numerous great- and great-great nieces and nephews, her step-sister-in-law Lynda Kitzerow plus other relatives and friends.
Angie was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; her parents, Gerhardt Sr. and Alida Louise Van Engen; her brothers and sisters, Hubert (Selma) Van Engen, Henry (Violet and Emma) Van Engen, Jacob (Inez) Van Engen, John (Rose) Van Engen, Gerhardie Van Engen (infant brother born and died in Holland), Gerhardt “Gradie” (Lydia) Van Engen (killed in WWII), Marious “Mike” (Ella and Lillian Puls) Van Engen, Louise Van Engen, Louis Van Engen (killed in WWII), and Anne (Conrad) Holling; her in-laws, Alfred and Martha (Zermuehlen) and Leona (Kitzerow) Bartz, brother-in-law Robert (Dorothy) Bartz, step-sister-in-law Ione Kitzerow Bruce, and step-brother-in-law Dr. Earl (Marion Voigt) Kitzerow; nieces and nephews, Beverly (Koeser) Van Engen, Sonia Van Engen Nelson, Manfred Reinbacher, Donald Van Engen, Thomas Van Engen, Gerhard “Jerry” Van Engen, Virginia Van Engen (Frederick) Boetcher, Daniel “Demo” Van Engen, Eugene Beeck, Wayne Frank, Marious Van Engen Jr. (infant), Janice Puls Spiro, Merle Harder, Todd Kitzerow, and Timothy Kitzerow.
The family would like to thank the staff of Aurora at Home Hospice for keeping her comfortable in her last days.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Sheboygan at 2:00 PM With Pastor Patrick Niles officiating. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery, Sheboygan. Visitation with be at CHURCH from 12 PM until time of service. MASKS WILL BE REQUIRED.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church-Sheboygan or “The Voice of Immanuel” radio ministry.
