Arline Thiel

Arline A. Thiel, age 91, of the town of Mosel, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. She was born May 13, 1923 in the town of Centerville, a daughter of the late Henry and Olivia (Sohn) Schmidt. She graduated from Pleasant Hill School in Centerville. On July 31, 1943, Arline was united in marriage to Raymond J. Thiel at St. Mark's United Church of Christ in town Mosel where she was a life-long member. Raymond preceded her in death on July 27, 1989. Arline's life was her family and her home. Her greatest joy was caring for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and seamstress, and loved canning the produce from her garden, making her world famous peanut squares and German potato salad. Arline was an avid seamstress, making prom and wedding dresses, quilts, and doll clothes for the grandkids. Active with her church, Arline was a charter member of the St. Mark's United Church of Christ Ladies Aid and was a dedicated member of the choir. Surviving Arline are two sons; Gerald (Jola) of Howards Grove and Otto (Bette) of Amberg, WI., her daughter; Cynthia (David) Call of Howards Grove, one daughter in law, Barbara Thiel of Howards Grove, fourteen grandchildren; Kristi (Ray) Prem, Michelle (Jack) Voss, Craig Thiel, Daniel (Delda) Thiel, David (Chris) Thiel, Tom (Steph) Damrow, Brett (Carrie) Damrow, Anna Marie (Jason) Bramstedt, Tony Call, Chris (Tami) Call, Charles (Carey) Thiel, Steven (Linda) Thiel, Melanie (Chad) Voskuil, Michael (Emily) Thiel, twenty six great grandchildren; Courtney Johnson, Zachery and Matthew Prem, Lane and Waycee Thomas, Conner, Luke and Mary Thiel, Danielle and Drew Damrow, Autumn Risch, Saige and Trace Damrow, Tyler, Olivia, Owen and Sierra Bramstedt, Charlee Call, Madeline and Eleanor Thiel, Gabriela, Samuel, Juliana and Jeremiah Thiel, Jonah and Elisha Voskuil, and Lily Thiel one sister in law, Alice Schmidt of Howards Grove. In addition to her husband Ray, and parents, Arline was also preceded in death by her son, DuWayne Thiel, three brothers, Ervin, Roy and Henry; Four sisters, Erma Bender, Alice Casper, Lorena Westermeyer and Bernice Zimmermann, two great grandchildren; Madison Prem and Henryk Thiel. A funeral service to celebrate Arline's life will be held on Sunday December 21, 2014 at St. Mark's United Church of Christ, W1307 Orchard Road at 6:00 p.m. with the Reverend William Kesting, Pastor, officiating. Committal rites and entombment will be held at Gardens of Peace Mausoleum on Monday December 22, 2014. Friends may call on the family at St. Mark's on Sunday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. The Thiel family wishes to thank the staff on 4th floor at St. Nicholas Hospital, and the caring people of Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for the loving care Mom received. A memorial fund has been established in the name of Arline A. Thiel.
