Audrey Mae Erma Karsteadt, 79, of Howards Grove, Wisconsin, died March 16, 2014 in Casa Grande, Arizona. Audrey was born November 11, 1934 in Manitowoc County to Lester and Alice (Schmidt) Schumacher. She was baptized on December 19, 1934 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and confirmed on March 21, 1948 at St. John/ St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland, Wisconsin. Audrey attended grade school in a one room school in Hika Bay and graduated from Sheboygan Central High School in 1953. On August 22, 1953 Audrey married the love of her life Jerome Karsteadt, at St. John / St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland, Wisconsin. They celebrated 60 years of marriage in August of 2013. Audrey and Jerry farmed many years in the Town of Herman. Audrey retired after working 30 years at the Kohler Company. She was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Audrey was an avid trap shooter, winning numerous titles in Sheboygan County, the UAW, and the surrounding area. Audrey shot on a men's team in which all shooters shot a perfect 25. In 1968, Audrey and Jerry won the State Husband and Wife title. Audrey enjoyed fishing, especially on Lake Michigan on the Jer-Aud. After retiring, fishing trips to Canada were also enjoyed. Audrey loved the Packers, and enjoyed reading, dancing, and crocheting. In retirement, Audrey and Jerry traveled extensively in the U.S. with their fifth wheel, spending the last several years in Casa Grande, Arizona. Audrey was a member of Immanuel UCC, rural Plymouth. Audrey participated in small group ministry and the prayer shawl group. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, step father Wilbert Casper, step sister Rosemary Leonhard, father and mother in law Gaylord and Ida Karsteadt and brother in law LeRoy Karsteadt. Audrey is survived by her husband Jerome, daughter Gail (Mike) Gottsacker of Elkart Lake,Wisconsin, son Gary (Charisse) Karsteadt of Tomahawk, Wisconsin, and daughter Pat (Karl) Nauschutz of Howards Grove, Wisconsin; grandchildren Jason Gottsacker, Jennifer (Dave) Klinzing, Megan and Zachary Nauschutz; great grandson Gavin Klinzing; sister Barbara (John) Wildeman of Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin; sister-in-law, Jeanette Karsteadt of Chula Vista, California; step brother Richard (Janice) Casper of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; step brother in law Wally Leonhard of Cleveland, Wisconsin and nephews, nieces, aunts, cousins, friends and their dog Shayna. A memorial service for Audrey will be held Saturday, March 29, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel United Church of Christ, (W3694 CTH FF, Plymouth) with the Rev. Frederick Trost officiating. Friends may call on Saturday, at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will be in the Garden of Peace Mausoleum.
