Audrey (Hopeman) Ringel, age 79, Sheboygan, went home to be with her Lord and savior on February 5th, 2016.
She was born on March 14, 1936, a daughter of the late Jacob and Edna (Vander Jagt) Hopeman. Audrey attended Cedar Grove schools and graduated from Cedar Grove High School in 1953. After graduation Audrey was employed in the Oostburg School District for several years. On August 12, 1955, she married Donald Ringel. She was a secretary for several years after raising her children.
Audrey was a member of the Evangelical Free Church where she sang in the choir and directed the Joyful Sound Bell Choir. She also taught Sunday school, held bible studies and participated in evangelism. Audrey loved gardening with her flowers, traveling and fishing.
Audrey is survived by her husband Donald; her three children, Barbara (James) Gabrish of Sheboygan, Sandra (Todd) Schroeder of Sheboygan, and Rochelle Zimmerman (Dave) Hochhalter, from Mount Pleasant, WI. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Joshua (Nicole) Gabrish, Cameron Kress, Lindsey Gabrish, Holly Kress all of Sheboygan and Tayler Schroeder of Cleveland, and great-grandchildren; Jasmine Gabrish, Kalei Gabrish, Charlotte Gabrish, Graysen Seyferth, and Avery Guenther, all of Sheboygan. She is further survived by three sisters; Janice Lohuis, Marlene (Bill) Hoftiezer and Diane (Mark) Stokdyk; three sister-in-laws Corona (Toni) Barthels, Betty (Frank) Konz, Joyce (Carl) Meggers; two brother-in-laws Kenneth (Kathy) Ringel and Eugene Heinen all of Sheboygan county. She is also survived by many special nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Audrey was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Earl Lohuis and Richard Ringel; sisters-in-law, Caroline Vrubly, Charlotte Ringel and Marion Heinen.
Funeral services will be held for Audrey at the Evangelical Free Church, 1710 N. 15th Street, Sheboygan, on Tuesday, February 9 at 12 Noon, with Rev. Jon MacDonald presiding. Friends and family may call at the church on Tuesday, from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in her name.
