Barbara Vernick

February 1, 1956 — November 9, 2017

Barbara K. Vernick, 61, of Sheboygan, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, due to complications with Type 1 Diabetes. Barbara was born February 1, 1956 in Sheboygan to William and Marion (Mais) Ruesink. She was a graduate of North High School. On September 26, 1981 she was united in marriage to Kim Vernick.
Barbara had various jobs over the years, including owning and keeping the books for Sheboygan City Cab, Kohl's, and she worked in medical records at the Sheboygan Clinic. Her greatest accomplishment however was being Mom and Grandma.
Barbara had a strong faith, and taught Sunday school at 1st Pentecostal Church in Plymouth, she loved babysitting for the children at church and for her grandchildren. She volunteered at James Madison Elementary School as a Grandma, helping children with their reading and studies. You could find Barbara every morning at McDonalds enjoying her breakfast burritos and a good book. She was an avid reader, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and word searches. Yearly trips to Branson, MO and time spent at the cabin at Table Rock Lake were always enjoyed. She also loved taking trips to Door County and the Northwoods, along with trips to Oneida to play Bingo. She had a true passion for animals, she adored her puppies; Abby, Einstein, and Max, her chickens; Rosita, Penelope, and Gertrude. She instilled her love of horses in her family. Spending time with her family and grandchildren was her passion, she enjoyed cooking for them, she always had a new recipe to share with them. When you were down you could always count on Barbara showing up with a Banana Bread to cheer you up. She is going to be truly missed by all who knew her.
Barbara is survived by her husband Kim, daughters, Sara(David) Turk and Rebecca (Lee) Miller, grandchildren, Hope Miller, Tyler Cunningham, and Andrew Miller, sister Lorna (Jerry) Newman, niece Teresa (Aaron) Pidcock and her niece and Goddaughter Claire Newman. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Warren Ruesink.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 4:00 PM at Ballhorn Chapels Funeral & Cremation Care Center, 1201 N. 8th St. Sheboygan. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 2:00 PM until the time of service.
A memorial fund will be established in Barbara's name.
