Carol Jean Gillgren, age 74, of Sheboygan, passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 7, 2015. She was born November 13, 1940 in Sheboygan to Arthur F. and Catherine (Schrimpf) Gillgren. She attended local Sheboygan Public Schools. For seventeen years Carol was employed at Kohler Co. in the mailroom. She was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Parish. Carol enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and she made many of her friends very happy with her hand knit items over the years. She also volunteered her time during activities at Sunny Ridge and helped at Homespun. She is survived by a niece, Ramona (Gerald) Schad of Howards Grove; a nephew, John Gillgren of Sheboygan; great-nieces and great-nephews; and her dear friends, Karen Bruinooge and Robert and Marian Gorges. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, James Gillgren, Vernon Gillgren and Arthur Gillgren and his wife, Rose. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2015 at St. Dominic Catholic Church. Rev. Phil Reifenberg will be the celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established in her name. Carol specifically asked that a heartfelt thank you be given to Dr. Sokhi for his care and compassion.
