Carol Mae Holtz, age 90, of Sheboygan, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Sunny Ridge Rehabilitation Center where she had resided for the past two years.
Carol was born April 29, 1926, to Jules and Norma (nee Bock) Sagunsky. She attended schools in Sheboygan Falls and graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School. Carol traveled to San Francisco in 1947 where she was married to William Holtz Jr. on March 1, 1947. Bill and Carol returned to Sheboygan in 1950 to begin their life together for the next 63 years.
Carol enjoyed traveling through most of the United States, as well as to the Bahamas. Most of all, Carol enjoyed happy weekends with family at their place near the High Falls Flowage in the Crivitz area. In the earlier years, the Card Club picnics at Long Lake were a very special event enjoyed by the entire family. Carol also enjoyed taking long car rides in the country with family. There was always a boat in the family and whether it was to watch the fourth of July fireworks or just a leisurely boat ride, Carol was always ready to go.
In the mid 1940's, Carol began working at Kohler Company in the drafting department. After getting married, Carol worked at the H.C. Prange Department Store and the Arlans Department Store, before starting a 20+ year career at JC Penney's in Sheboygan, where she made numerous friends and acquaintances until her retirement. After a short retirement, Carol returned to work part-time at Walmart, which lasted almost 10 years. Afterward she threw her energy into being a devoted mother and grandmother, taking great pleasure following the accomplishments of her children and friends.
Carol is survived by three sons: Jeremy, of Morrison, Colorado, Kim, of Corvalis, Montana and Corey (Mary) of Oak Creek, Wisconsin and grandsons: Justin, Craig and Brett. She is also survived by her brother Eugene (Ruth) of Sheboygan Falls. Carol was preceded in death by her husband William, parents Jules and Norma, sisters Vivian and Phyllis, and other relatives and friends.
Private family services were held. Carol was laid to rest at Lutheran Cemetery in Sheboygan beside her husband William.
