Carol Jane (Buteyn) Dekker (93) went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 22, 2023. She was born and raised in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, where she graduated from Sheboygan Christian School and North High School. She married Robert John Dekker on September 16, 1949, and together they raised their 5 children in Sheboygan. They were married for nearly 60 years. Carol spent much of her time as a volunteer for many of the Christian School and Calvin Christian Reformed Church functions. In addition, she worked for Bruns Chiropractic and spent 37 years as a Consultant with Mary Kay Cosmetics. She loved her Lord and lived her life according to her favorite song, One Day At A Time Sweet Jesus. Her purpose in life was to serve her Lord and be of service to as many people as possible. She was well-loved and admired. So many friends and family members professed that she made a huge difference in their lives.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, daughter Barbara Lynn Olson (Dean), and son Alan Edward Dekker (Tammy). Carol is survived by daughter Gail Marie McNulty (Mark), daughter Jamie Kay Jackson (Tone), daughter Laurel Ann Dekker (Ocean), and 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. In addition, she had 3 step-grandchildren and 7 step-great grandchildren. She is also survived many cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
There will be a Commitment Service for the immediate family at Greenlawn Cemetery January 26. A Memorial Service and Celebration will be held on Saturday, February 4 at 10 am at Calvin Christian Reformed Church, 2313 Saemann Avenue in Sheboygan. Our family is very grateful for the kind and compassionate care provided for our mother and family by the wonderful nurses, aids and volunteer staff at Sharon Richardson Community Hospice. A memorial fund will be established in Carol’s name.
