Carole Schinabeck

Carole R. Schinabeck, age 94, of the Town of Sheboygan, died peacefully on Friday evening, August 21, 2015. She was born February 19, 1921 in Colby, WI to Julius and Elizabeth (Wolk) Young. Her family moved to Sheboygan where Carole attended Pigeon River Elementary and Sheboygan Central High, graduating in 1939. On May 10, 1941 Carole and Tony Schinabeck were united in marriage at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Sheboygan. Tony preceded her in death in September of 1966. Carole was a member of St. John's UCC Church in Sheboygan. Carole had a passion for quilting and creating beautiful heirloom quilts which she tastefully displayed throughout her home. She had a natural artistic talent for decorating. Her homemade curtains, wall hangings and assorted stuffed creatures appeared in the most perfect of locations. She was a member of the Rainbow Quilters, the Erdmann Homemakers, and the Sheboygan County Quilters Guild. She is survived by her children, Ann Metzner, Jean (William) Carpenter, Mark Schinabeck (Susan Barthels), Carol (James) Arpke, and Michael Schinabeck; her grandchildren, Steve Metzner, Tyler Metzner, Troy Carpenter, and John (Nicki) Arpke; her great-grandchildren, Damion Metzner, Lily Lewis, Alice Arpke, and Eliza Arpke; and other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Angela Lewis; four sisters, Frieda, Hattie, Esther, and Theresa; and family friend, Andrew Scharrer. Memorial services will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Zimmer Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center, W2132 Garton Road, Sheboygan, WI 53083. Rev. Gregory S. Whelton, Pastor of St. John UCC, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow after the service at Calvary Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in her name. Carole's greatest joy in life was giving of herself to her family and friends.
