Caroline Elizabeth (Poth) Jens
Caroline Elizabeth (Poth) Jens passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017. She was born to John and Irene (Fischer) Poth September 14, 1930 in the town of Wilson in Sheboygan County.
A product of Town of Wilson schools and a Central (Sheboygan) High School graduate, Jens retired in 1987 from a clerical position with the H.C. Prange Company.
Jens was active in the 4-H organization for more than twenty years, helping form the first urban club in Sheboygan County in 1959. She was long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheboygan, serving the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and singing in the choir. In 2009 Jens received an Oscar as the top volunteer at the Stefanie Weill Center for the Performing Arts in Sheboygan.
Jens married William "Bill" F. Jens November 13, 1948 in the Town of Wilson Trinity Lutheran Church, celebrating sixty-seven years together until Bill preceded her in death in July 2016. Her parents, a sister, Gloria (Erwin) Fritsch, and brothers-in-law Wilmer Jens, Erwin Fritsch and Jene Kissel also preceded her in death. She is survived by sisters Elaine (Ron) Zeinemann (Sheboygan) and Shirley (Phil) Nack (Savannah, Ga.), and sisters-in law Nancy Kissel of Sheboygan and June Jens (Madison, Wis.). She is survived by son Philip (Cheryl) of Oostburg; daughter Diane (Tom Fick) of Fort Atkinson; daughter Carol (Josef Neu) of Gainesville, Florida; and son John (Diane) of Racine. The Jens family includes twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 824 Wisconsin Ave. in Sheboygan at 11:30am on Monday, April 17, 2017 with visitation at the church beginning at 9:30am.
The family wishes to thank Terrace Place and Sharon Richardson Hospice for the comfort and care provided to Caroline. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
