On the evening of Tuesday September 22, 2015 Caroline (Gannigan) Ribbens, 86, of Sheboygan passed away peacefully at Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center surronded by the comfort of her family. Caroline was born April 14 1929 in Chilton to the late William and Linda (Krueger) Gannigan. After attending school at Weeden Hill she continued working on her farm for many years then dedicated the rest of her years at Sheboygan Progressive nursing home until she retired at the age of 73. Music (polka especially) and dancing were two of her favorite things- she belonged to the "We Love To Dance Club" and traveled to many dances with her friends and family. The Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers are also on her list of favorite things. Caroline will be greatly missed by her two children, Gary Ribbens and Diane Ribbens-Schmidt; her grandson, Kyle Hansen; granddaughter, Miranda Schmidt and her great-grandson, whom she loved dearly, Adryan Jon Hansen; her brother, Leslie "Bush" Gannigan and special friend, Arlene of Auberndale; her sisters, Betty (Bill) Mavis, Doris (Glen) Hammerschmidt, Beverly (Demo) VanEgen and Shirley (Dell) Dassow, all of Sheboygan Falls. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Ribbens, one grandson, Steven James, two brothers, Clarmount and William and two sisters, Evelynn and Elmira. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Caroline's name. A memorial service for Caroline will be held on Monday, September 28, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. at the Zimmer's Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center (Hwy 42 & JJ, Howards Grove) with the Rev. DuWayne Hanke officiating. Friends may call on Monday, at the funeral home, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Special thanks to the staff at Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center for all the help and courtesy given to our family. Also, a very special thank you to her nurse, Ann, who was with her at Morningside Nursing Home as well as Meadowview Manor, the staff at Wheelchair Taxi, and all the staff who was there along the way. You were all more than just her caregivers you became friends, and family. Words can not express our gratitude towards you all. Caroline wanted nothing more out of life then to give and receive happiness. So please, during this time of sorrow, let us not dwell on our loss, but remember all that she brought and gave to us and keep her spirit alive with smiles, thanks, love, and happiness.
