Charles Gerber

Charles J. Gerber age 77, went home to his Lord, Monday, July 6, 2015. He was born on December 29, 1937 in Sheboygan to parents Atty. Alfred and Mildred (Boll) Gerber. Charles attended Sheboygan North High School, where he won the 1956 State Tennis Championship. He graduated from Lakeland College, where he continued to compete in tennis, winning numerous Singles and Doubles Titles including the Conference Championship. He was inducted into the Lakeland College Hall of Fame in 1981. Charles was united in marriage on August 6, 1960 to the love of his life, Sharon Schneider at St. Thomas Lutheran Church in the Town of Lyndon. He proudly served in the National Guard from 1961-1965. Charles worked for the Social Security Administration from 1965 - 1995. In retirement Charles worked at Town & Country Golf Course. Charles had two great passions in life, his grandchildren and golf. Charles is survived by his loving wife Sharon; three children, Debbie (Mike) Tharp, Tom (Kelly) Gerber and Steve (Missy) Gerber; nine grandchildren, Stephanie, Matthew and Craig Gerber, Katie and Kristine Tharp, Lindsey Welch, Brooke, Courtney and Kendra Lohmiller; two great-grandchildren, Bentley and Elijah; one brother, Glen Gerber; brothers-in-law, Melvyn (Heidi) Schneider and Joe (Kay) Schneider; one sister-in-law, Diane (Tom) Gordon. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Greg Gerber; parents-in-law, William and Adeline Schneider. A time of gathering and support will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 824 Wisconsin Ave., on Friday, July 10 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Funeral Service at 12 Noon with Rev. John Berg presiding. Burial to follow at the Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
