Charlotte D. Baarendse, age 94, a resident of Sheboygan Senior Community, died peacefully Tuesday, October 27, 2015. She was born February 5, 1921 in Detroit, Michigan to Charles and Mary Louise (Braun) Utecht. When Charlotte was six, her mother died and her family relocated to Sheboygan. She attended local grade schools and was a graduate of Sheboygan Central High School, Class of 1939. On September 15, 1942 Charlotte was united in marriage to David C. Baarendse. He preceded her in death on September 4, 2006. For many years Charlotte was employed as a bookkeeper at the Sheboygan Area Credit Union. She was a faithful member of Hope Reformed Church in Sheboygan. She was a past member of the PTA where she served as president and a member of the Sheboygan Fireman's Auxiliary. Her hobbies included reading, working crossword puzzles, swimming, baseball and tennis. She is survived by four children, Mary( Gary) Wehrwein of Plano, Texas, Diane (Jeff) Edwards of Milwaukee, James (Dawn) Baarendse of Winneconne and Linda (Tony) Gischia of Sheboygan; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Marlene Utecht of Sheboygan; her brother-in-law, Richard (Elsbeth) Baarendse; and other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ray Utecht; her in-laws, Maude (Henry) Leonhardt, Casey (Bonnie) Baarendse, Frances Barends, and Janet (Emery) LaTarte. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Hope Reformed Church. Rev. Bill TeWinkle, Pastor, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions would be appreciated for the memorial funds established in her name for Hope Reformed Church and Sheboygan County Meals on Wheels. Charlotte's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caring staff at Sheboygan Senior Community these past nine years. Charlotte will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was just the sweetest lady.
