Daniel Weiskopf

April 25, 1942 — July 11, 2017

Daniel Weiskopf, of Sheboygan, passed away Tuesday evening, July 11, 2017 at Sheboygan Progressive Care Center after a long battle with COPD. He was 75 years old.

Danny was born April 25, 1942 in Sheboygan, the son of Otis and Beatrice (nee Van Zanten) Weiskopf. He attended North High School and graduated in 1960. After school, he worked for his parent's business, Erie Eat Shoppe. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a medic and truck driver from 1964-1966, including time spent in Vietnam. On December 14, 1969, he was united in marriage with Sandy Hallwachs at St. John's UCC in Sheboygan.

From 1970-2007, Danny worked for the City of Sheboygan as a special service driver. Throughout his life, he held many part-time jobs including security, Sheboygan Press distribution, drug delivery for Grube Pharmacy and driving school bus.

Danny was an avid sports fan, and loved the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers. During the 1960's and 1970's, he played catcher for the Sheboygan A's and enjoyed playing in Port Washington, Cleveland and Howards Grove. He participated in the Golden Gloves amateur boxing tournament, loved music, especially Johnny Cash and The Statler Brothers, and enjoyed spending time with his wife traveling and taking trips to Oneida.

Danny is survived by his wife Sandy and their children: Crystal (Scott) Olbrantz of Sheboygan and Heidi (Eric) Mentink of Phoenix, AZ. He is further survived by his granddaughter Paige Bohman of Sheboygan, sisters Jeannie (Dr. Charles) Hubrigtse of Berlin, WI and Camila. He is preceded in death by his parents, infant grandson Alex Bohman and his brother Fred Weiskopf.

According to Danny's wishes, private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice or St. John's UCC.

The family would like to thank the staffs of Sheboygan Progressive and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
