Darla Becker

Darla Kay Becker, 75, of Sheboygan, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Shores of Sheboygan from complications of Parkinson's disease. Darla was born March 26, 1941, in Sheboygan, to the late Harvey and Mildred (Clemens) Silbernagel. She attended Jefferson School and graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1959. On June 9, 1962, she married Donald Manske. He preceded her in death on June 21, 1985. She then married Ronald Becker on May 10, 1997. They enjoyed traveling in their boat and in their Corvettes. She was employed by Wisconsin Public Service Corp., C. Reiss Coal Co. and Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. She was very fortunate to have a long time friend and business partner, Mary Schwarz. Together, they ran Palette Pals, a decorative painting and folk art company. Mary and Darla enjoyed using their talent to paint furniture for Madewell Furniture Co., as well as crafting items. She also enjoyed a group of friends who came together for over 40 years to knit, craft and socialize. Darla was active in her church, serving as a Sunday School teacher and served on various groups and committees.
She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Dawn (Joe) Kay, La Crosse and Dena Manske, Sheboygan; two grandsons, Quincy and Clayton Kay; one step-daughter, Pam (Rob) Adema, one step-son, Jon (Tina) Becker, five step-grandchildren, Andrew, Kimberly and Nicholas Becker and Austin and Emma Adema; one sister, Jeanne (Phillip) Groebner, St. Peter, MN; one sister-in-law, Diane Bassett, Menomonie; one nephew, Brian (Sarah) Bassett and one niece, Michelle Bassett-Shea.
A memorial service for Darla will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at Zion Covenant Church (1125 N. 6th Street, Sheboygan) with Rev. Chris McKnight officiating. Friends may call on Saturday, at the church, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Darla's name.
