Delores Mae (Schlegel) Duening, age 84, of Deer Haven Lane in Sheboygan, died Friday, December 29, 2017 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
Delores was born November 10, 1933 to Peter and Emily (Gerlock) Schlegel. Delores attended local schools and Central High School.
On November 15, 1951, Delores married Roy Ehrenreich of Sheboygan at Trinity Lutheran Church. She was employed at The Sheboygan Casket Company as a trimmer for 28 years. On October 28, 1967, Delores married Leslie Duening of Sheboygan at Trinity Lutheran Church. Delores and Les were the Owner Operators of Duening's Tap for 19 years from 1976 until 1995.
Delores was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in her younger years but transferred over to St. Johns United Church of Christ of Sheboygan.
Delores enjoyed watching the Packers play, doing puzzles and spending numerous hours in her flower gardens. She especially loved spending time with her family, and the many cookouts she held frying burgers and steaks on her grill she kept from the bar. She held a special place in her heart for her little dog Peanut.
Delores is survived by five daughters: Donna (Daryl) Beringer of Sheboygan Falls, Sandi Remmel, Linda (Ron) Fanslau and Kristine (Michael) Wiltzius, all of Sheboygan and Debbie (Ken) Larson of Howard City, MI, and two sons: Richard (Carmen) Duening and Randy (Darlene) Duening, both of Sheboygan. Delores is further survived by 14 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Delores was preceded in death by her husband Leslie Duening, former husband Roy Ehrenreich, granddaughter Tina Fanslau, and her siblings: Alice Schlegel, Hilda Tucker, Virginia Siech, Paul Schlegel, Fred Schlegel, Bobby Schlegel, Dorothy Schroeder and Elsie Niebuhr.
The funeral service will be held at St. John's United Church of Christ, 1248 Lincoln Avenue in Sheboygan at 7:00 pm on Friday, January 5, 2018. Visitation will be 4:00 pm until time of service at the church. Entombment will take place at the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum, Sheboygan.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Delores' name.
We would like to thank the nurses and staff of Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, as well as Rev Greg Whelton of St. John's United Church of Christ for their devoted care of mom during this time.
Delores will be greatly missed by her family, friends and Peanut.
