Deloris Verhelst

Deloris A. Verhelst, 91, of Sheboygan, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Meadow View Manor. She was Born November 12, 1925 in Adell, the daughter of Charles and Ida (Leible) Voltz. Deloris graduated from Central High School, and on June 19, 1944 she was united in marriage to the love of her life John Verhelst. John preceded her in death on July 11, 1980.
Deloris worked for 27 years at Bemis, retiring in 2007. She also was the Friday Night Fish Cook at Ziggy's for over 30 years. Having a strong faith, she was a long-time member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church. Gardening was a passion of Deloris's, she always had beautiful flower gardens. Her family was very important to her, her favorite times were spent creating memories with them. In earlier years, Deloris and John looked forward to Sunday dinners with family and entertaining the Pastor. Grilling out and taking road trips was always keeping them busy. Having a love for reading Deloris would read about 50 books a year. Having a heart of gold, she was always feeding the stray cats in the neighborhood.
She is survived by her children; Laurie Kuehl of Sheboygan, Janet (William) Kramer of Plymouth, and John (Cheryl) Verhelst of Granton, by her grandchildren; David (Jolynn) Kuehl, Chris (Maria) Kramer, Nicole (Roy) Dahmer, Michelle (Joel) Berg, and Dawn Marie, by her great-grandchildren; Natalie, Steven, Justin, Kyle, Chase, Danica, Chyenne, Anna, and Tristian also by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Marcella Voltz, Luetta (Beverly) Philips and an infant sister, by two infant brothers, a son-in-law William Kuehl, brother-in-law Marvin (Mary) Verhelst, father and mother-in-law Joseph and Johanna Verhelst, and by her nephew Duane Phillips and niece Diane Phillips.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 4:00 PM at Ballhorn Chapels Funeral & Cremation Care Center, 1201 N. 8th St. Sheboygan, with Rev. Cindy Thompson officiating. Burial will take place at Hartman Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 3:00PM until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Sheboygan Humane Society in Deloris's name.
