Diana Veronica Remy

Diana Veronica Remy, age 85, passed away at her home on May 3, 2024. She was born in Sheboygan on November 10, 1938 to the late Arthur and Agnes (Schils) Remy. Diana has always loved sports and ballet all her life, and was captain of her basketball team in high school. Following her high school graduation in 1956, she traveled once a week to Gus Giordano Dance School, and continued her studies with the Dieman-Bennet School of Dance, Chicago National Association Dance Masters, the Lynda Martha Dance Institute, Dance Center Evanston, Chi-town Jazz Dance, and Evanston School of Ballet for over 40 years. She taught on the faculties of Dance Masters of Wisconsin, Chicago National Association Dance Masters, Cecchetti, Council of America Midwest Branch, Wisconsin Dance Council, and for National Association of Dance Affiliated Artists. Additionally, she studied Spanish Dance with Irene Perkins, Esperanza de la Barrera, and Ricardo Montes. She marched as a Majorette in the Pops Band, every year without fail in her native Sheboygan.

Diane was an icon in the community. Her dynamic personality endeared her to everyone who had the privilege of meeting her.  Diane loved sports, especially the Milwaukee Brewers. She was an accomplished bowler, softball player, golfer at Pine Hills Golf Course.  She loved her family and friends, attending dance workshops, dance concerts, and being in parades.  

Diane was strong in her Catholic faith, having been a devout member of the Holy Family Catholic Parish her entire life.  She attended Holy Name of Jesus faithfully, praying the rosary daily. 

Diane is survived by her cousins Jerry Schils, Thomas Schils, Susan (James) Knoebel, Gary (Ann) Harris, Dennis Harris, Jane (Michael) Kregel, Randy Harris, Tom (Gail) Harris, Colleen (Rick) Meyer, and her best friends Victoria Lesch and Kerry Desmond. She is further survived by many other relatives, friends, and her dance family, who were like her children, and her Catholic family.

In addition to her parents, Diane is preceded in death by her infant brother John Remy, and her cousin Marion (James) Harris, and Kris Harris.

The family would like to thank Officers Renzelmann and McKay, and the Sheboygan First Responders for their exceptional care and compassion. 

A celebration of Diane’s extraordinary life will be held at Emil Mazey Hall, 5425 Superior Ave., Sheboygan, WI 53083, on June 30, 2024 from 1:30-4:30 p.m.

A private burial will take place at a later date.
