Donald "Don" L. Abraham, 84, of Sheboygan, died on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Hospital. He was born on August 1, 1931 in Sheboygan to Marvin and Louise (Planinschek) Abraham. Don graduated from Central High School in 1950, and then continued on to UW Madison graduating with his BS in 1954 and then he received his LLB in 1958 from UW Madison as well.
From 1954 to 1970 Don lived and worked in Madison, Dixson, IL, and Grand Island, NE where he met and fell in love with Sharyn. On November 25, 1969 he was united in marriage to the love of his life Sharyn Baliman in Grand Island, NE. Sharyn preceded him in death on March 3, 1990. In 1970 they moved to Watertown and lived there until 2006, he then returned home to Sheboygan after his retirement. Don practiced law until retiring in 1993, and then went on to substitute teach from 1996 to 2006. He was a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and in 2008 was honored as a 50 year Emeritus Member, member of the Sheboygan County Historical Society, member of the Old Timers Baseball Association, Member of the Democratic National Committee and ran for State Assembly, Democratic Party of Wisconsin, the Sheboygan Democratic Party, member of the Watertown Rotary Club serving as President, and was also a member of the Horicon Rotary Club serving as President. Don was the District 6250 Governor for a year. Don was also a proud member of the Watertown School Board, being the deciding vote on bringing Girls sports to the school. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed following the Badgers and Packers, but enjoyed following the Watertown High School Goslings the most. Don even had his own sports show on the local TV station, to the students he was known as "Mr. A". Having a very strong faith, Don was an active member at Watertown United Methodist Church and Fountain Park United Methodist Church in Sheboygan.
Survivors include his children Aaron Abraham of Oconomowoc, Dylan Abraham of Madison, and Dayna Abraham of Sun Prairie, his grandson Kelly Abraham, and his special friend Bernice Loesing. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, an infant brother and his brother Delano.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Fountain Park United Methodist Church 828 Erie Ave. Sheboygan, with Rev. Warren Waddell officiating. Inurnment will follow at Wildwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Mead Library in Don's name.
