Donald Grzezinski

Donald J. Grzezinski, age 94, of Sheboygan, died Friday morning, October 13, 2017 at Azura Memory Care Center in Sheboygan.
Don was born July 31, 1923 in Milwaukee to Stanley and Maria Grzezinski. He attended Boy's Tech and was a graduate of Pulaski High School. He joined the US Army in January of 1942 and served until February of 1946 in the Headquarter Company, 34th Armoured Maintenance Battalion, 12th Armoured Division, attaining the rank of Tech 4. He received a Victory Medal, American Theatre Ribbon, European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon with two Bronze Battle Stars, two Overseas Service Bars, one Service Stripe and a Good Conduct Medal.
On December 6, 1947 Don was married in Milwaukee to Elfrieda E. Walz of Sheboygan. Elfrieda preceded him in death on October 4, 1992.
Don was employed at Kohler Co. in 1948 as a beginning draftsman and became a Registered Professional Engineer in Wisconsin in 1964. He retired from Kohler in 1985 after thirty-seven years.
Don was a member of Sheboygan Toastmaster's Club 2121 for twenty-five years. He was a member of the VFW Post 9156 and the American Legion Prescott-Bayens Post 83. He was a past president of the Lakeshore Dancing Club and served on the Sheboygan Public School District Board from 1970-1973. He was also a member of the Wisconsin Society of Professional Engineers and the National Society of Professional Engineers.
Don loved to travel, having visited all 50 States as well as to many overseas countries. He also enjoyed woodworking, making many pieces of teak furniture for his own home and for friends and relatives. Another hobby of Don's was photography and his collection of slides numbers over 17,000!
Don is survived by his son, Dennis and his wife, Jane Porath of Milwaukee; two granddaughters, Sarah Grzezinski of Taipei, Taiwan and Tanya Grzezinski of Minneapolis, Minnesota; his dear friend of twenty-four years, Louise Zastrow of Howards Grove, WI; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen and three sisters, Dolores, Marcella, and Bernadine; and one brother, Raymond.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. Rev. Duane Hanke will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held at the funeral home from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
