Donald Schaefer Sr.

Donald Roger Schaefer Sr., age 84, of Sheboygan, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at Countryside Manor in Sheboygan.

Donald was born March 11, 1937, in Sheboygan to John and Theresa (Blazich) Schaefer.  He attended Jefferson Elementary School and was a graduate of Sheboygan Central High School, Class of 1955.  He served his country in the US Navy in the Crypto Naval Security Group.

On May 5, 1962, Donald and Barbara Holzer were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church.

For thirty-eight years Donald was employed at Vollrath Co. in polishing and receiving, retiring in 1999.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Donald was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying his annual hunting and Great Lake Sport fishing trips with family and friends.  He and Barb would smoke the fish they caught and give them to friends and family alike.

Donald is survived by his son, Donald (Angela) Schaefer, Jr. of Sheboygan; his granddaughter, Brianna; his sister, Judy Schroeder of Sheboygan Falls; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; his parents; and brother-in-law, Edward Schroeder.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at 5:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheboygan with Rev. John Berg officiating.  A time of visitation and support will be held from 3:00 PM until the time of service.

A memorial fund has been established in his name.
