Donald Schnell

Donald J. Schnell, 77, of Plymouth, passed away Thursday, December 04, 2014 at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center. Donald was born September 19, 1937 in New Holstein to the late Gilbert and Florena (Anhalt) Schnell. He graduated from Sheboygan Central High School in 1955. He served his country in the United States Navy as a radar operator and in the Navy Reserves for over 20 years. On December 31, 1970, he married the former Janet King. He was employed for 33 years at VPI. Donald was active in Numismatic Society and a member of TREA. Donald was a loving father and grandfather. He loved traveling, hunting and coffee with the guys. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Gregory (Chong) Schnell, Colorado; two daughters, Kim Hansen, Sheboygan and Nikki (Manny) Castillo, Milwaukee; six grandchildren, Asia, Kyle, Tristan, Hannah, Angela and Jordan; one great granddaughter, Sophia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Harlow Schnell. Funeral services for Donald will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. at Zimmer's Westview (Hwy 42 & JJ, Howards Grove) with the Rev. Nathan Meador officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday, at the funeral home, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name to be used for the Wounded Warrior program.
