Donna M. Ascher, 77, of Sheboygan, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Donna was born July 25, 1936, the only daughter of the late Arthur and Elizabeth (Hubatch) Wagner. She attended St. John's grade school and graduated from Antigo High School in 1954. She attended UW-Stevens Point, graduating in 1958 with a BS degree in Home Economics. Donna continued her education with many classes, some taken in Edinbrough, Scotland. On June 21, 1958, she married Bernard Ascher, also from Antigo, at St. John's Catholic Church. Donna taught at the Junior High School in Shawano for three years while her husband served in the United States Army. After his return, they moved to Waukesha where they made their home and raised a family. She taught 27 years in the Mukwonago School System, retiring in 1992. She enjoyed taking part in craft shows as a founding member of Beach Beads Jewelry Company. Her greatest joys were scrapbooking, reading, spending time with friends at the Senior Center, events with her Red Hat group and the love of her children, grandchildren and great-grandson. Survivors include two daughters, Denise Bertino, Sheboygan and Dr. Renee Ascher Ellis (Tim Ellis), Town of Sheboygan; four grandchildren, Morgan Gruneberg, DJ, Tanya and Terry Bertino, all of Sheboygan; one great-grandson, Hunter; three life-long friends, Val Rozga, Antigo, JoAnn Glavich, Sacramento, CA and Ann Winzenried, Waukesha. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, one son-in-law, Don Bertino, seven brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law. A memorial service for Donna will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Zimmer's Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center (Hwy 42 & JJ, Howards Grove) with the Rev. Philip Reifenberg officiating. Friends may call on Thursday, at the funeral home, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
