Dorothy Klessig

Dorothy Ione Klessig passed away Friday morning, July 31, 2015 after a short stay at Aurora Zilber Family Hospice of Wauwatosa. She was 87 years old. Dorothy was born March 4, 1928, the daughter of Oscar and Iris (Koeppe) Haartman of Oostburg. She was united in marriage with Donald Klessig on December 5, 1953. He preceded her in death in 1996. Dorothy was a member of St. John - St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Cleveland for over 61 years. She was a graduate of Oostburg High School in 1946. She attended Roseland Community Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, where she graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1951. She worked at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital and Sunny Ridge Nursing Home in Sheboygan. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Susan Klessig of Mendota Heights, Minnesota, and son, Dale Klessig and his wife Carol of Milwaukee. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Christina Klessig of Woodside, New York. She had two brothers: Ron Haartman and Wayne Haartman (deceased) of Sheboygan. She had two sisters: Pearl Haartman (deceased) of Sheboygan and Barbara Graefe of Middleton, Idaho. A Christian funeral celebration will be held on Monday, August 3, 2015 at 11 AM at Zimmer Funeral Home in Howards Grove. Pastor David Endorf will preside. The family will receive visitors before the service from 10 - 11 AM. Dorothy will be laid to rest at Saxon Cemetery in Centerville Township. The family would like to thank the staff of Cedar Grove Gardens assisted living in Cedar Grove for their compassionate care over the last seven years.
