Dorothy W. Petzold, age 95, of Eau Claire, died peacefully surrounded by family on February 17, 2017 in the care of the Sheboygan Senior Community Center and the Aurora Health Hospice.
Dorothy was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, April 25,1921 to Fredrick and Emily Wick.
She attend elementary, middle and high school in Minneapolis and continued her passion for the arts at the Minneapolis School of Art and Design while working as a color portrait artist.
Dorothy married Dr. Arthur Petzold on August 22, 1943 during his cadet training as a B24 Army Air Force pilot. After World War II ended they moved to Eau Claire where her husband practiced optometry for 50 years. Arthur and Dorothy were able to celebrate 70 years of marriage together.
Dorothy was very active in the community. She was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Darga Circle Bible study, charter member of her beloved P.E.O. Chapter BE for 67 years, and member of the Eau Claire Service League. Over the years she was active in a number of Eau Claire community organizations.
Dottie is survived by one daughter Louise (Steven) of Sheboygan, one grandson Paul (Robyn) of Toronto, Canada and one great grandson Cooper.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arthur, two sisters and one
brother.
A private family service will be held in Sheboygan at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to Trinity Lutheran Food Pantry, John Michael Kohler Arts Center in Sheboygan, WI or a charity of the donor's choice.
Dorothy's family was very special to her and she will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a great friend.
