Douglas Arthur Dean, age 73, died Friday afternoon, April 3, 2015 at his home after a short battle with cancer. He was born December 26, 1941 in Marshfield, WI to Arthur and Olive (Melgreen) Dean. On June 26, 1981 Douglas and Dianne (Bertschy) Brown were united in marriage in Las Vegas. For over twenty years Doug was employed as a semi-driver, retiring from Flippo & Sons in Plymouth in 2005. After retiring he tended bar at Union Avenue Tap until his illness. Doug enjoyed many things in life, including stock car racing, hunting, fishing, baseball, and golf. He was proud to have shot a hole-in-one at Sunset Hills golf course. He also enjoyed classic country music and could play many instruments. In addition to his wife, Dianne, he is survived by his children, June (Bob) Lancour, Diane (Willy) Simonis, Tammie (Jim) Dupuis, Lisa (Brian) Simonis, Ricky (Debi) Dean, and Robin (Roger) Kiggins; step-daughter, Stacy Jo Brown; step-son, Scott Brown; and his best little buddy, Sammy; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Roger, Bruce, Russell, Myrna and Janice; and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbur and Donnie; one sister, Mildred; and a granddaughter, Courtney. In honoring Doug's wishes, there will be no services. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Doug's family would like to thank the excellent staff at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice for their care and compassion.
