Edith Federer

August 11, 1934 — March 11, 2015

Edith E. Federer, age 80, of Sheboygan Falls, died Wednesday morning, March 11, 2015 at St. Nicholas Hospital with her family at her side. She was born August 11, 1934 in Broadway, Ohio to Harry and Ethel (Overfield) Levan. At the age of seventeen Edie relocated to Sheboygan where she lived with her brother and his family. For a time she worked at Luedke's Meat Market and later at the Kohler Co. during the Korean Conflict making shell casings. On February 27, 1954 Edith and Edmund "Pickle" Federer were united in marriage at Holy Name Rectory. He preceded her in death on March 18, 2014. While raising her family Edie worked at a number of places, including the Sheboygan County Courthouse, Wigwam Mills, Younker's, Austin's in Sheboygan Falls, Ebenreiter Lumber, and Sheboygan Retirement Home. Edie was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed cooking, working in her garden, canning produce, and sewing. She and Pickle totally restored their first home and throughout Edie's life she continued to put her attention to detail in everything she did. She was the consummate caregiver to her entire family and faced life head on through the good and the bad times. Edie is survived by her daughter, Debbie Federer; her son, Tim (Sara) Federer; two grandchildren, Sydney and Reid Federer all of Sheboygan Falls; her sister-in-law, Annette Levan of Sheboygan; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Edmund Federer III; four brothers and four sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2015 at St. Dominic Catholic Church by Rev. Daniel Lasecki, Senior Priest. A time of visitation and support will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name.
