Eleanor J. (Holman) Fiedelman, 93, of Holyoke, MA, formerly a long-time resident of Woodstock, IL, and Manistee, MI, died Wednesday, April 29, 2015. She was born on June 12, 1921, in Sheboygan, WI, to Sadie (Forman) and John Holman. She married Howard Fiedelman, also of Sheboygan, on March 23, 1947. They moved to Manistee, where they lived until 1957 when they moved to Woodstock. Eleanor was a graduate of North High School in Sheboygan. Eleanor was an avid seamstress and, in the tradition of her mother before her, she sewed her own clothing as well as quilts and a wide array of accessories. She had an interest in nearly every craft imaginable and she mastered many of these pursuits, offering classes in her home on such things as millinery and beading. In her later years, Eleanor was fascinated with geometry and paper folding. Her room at Loomis Nursing Center in Holyoke was decorated with many folded paper models. She was a long-time member of the Garden Club, Book Club, Stock Club, and volunteered for the Easter Seal Society and local Brownie and Girl Scout Troops. In retirement, Howard took on professional consulting jobs around the world, and Eleanor helped plan some of meetings over which Howard presided. They happily traveled the world together to such destinations as Kenya, Thailand, Israel, Costa Rica, Mexico, and Germany as well as places all across the US. Howard predeceased her in 2002. The family wishes to extend sincere gratitude to the staff of Loomis House Nursing Center for their care and loving attention. Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Charlene (Fiedelman) Morrow and son-in-law, James Morrow, both of Holyoke; son, David Fiedelman and daughter-in-law Mary Lou Fiedelman, both of Long Grove, IL; brother Harold Holman of Sheboygan; four grandchildren, Hannah Morrow and Brooke, Blake, and Brette Fiedelman; and several nieces and a nephew. Visitation hours at 10 am and funeral at 11 am will be held Monday, May 4 at Ballhorn Funeral Home, 1201 North Eighth Street, Sheboygan. Interment will be at the Sheboygan Hebrew Cemetery in Kohler, WI. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to OrigamiUSA, 15 West 77 Street New York, NY 10024-5192.
