Eleanor R. (Boedecker) Herwig, age 74, of rural Plymouth, passed away Sunday June 29, 2014 at Rocky Knoll Healthcare Center. She was born on April 22, 1940 in Sheboygan, a daughter of the late Calvin and Irene (Roeder) Boedecker. Eleanor was a 1958 graduate of Plymouth High School. She attended the Milwaukee Accredited School of Beauty Culture from 1958-1959, then working at HC Prange Beauty Shop from 1959 until 1961. After raising her family, she returned to the beauty profession, working at the Sunny Ridge Beauty shop, later working at the Deli at Bill's Piggly Wiggly in Howards Grove. On September 16, 1961, Eleanor Boedecker was united in marriage to Harold Herwig at Saron United Church of Christ. The couple worked on the Herwig Homestead. She was a member of Sheboygan County Farm Bureau, working at the Farm Bureau Food Booth at the Sheboygan County Fair, and was also on the Wisconsin State Farm Bureau Women's Committee. Eleanor was a faithful member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Town of Herman where she was an active member of the Immanuel Women's Fellowship, also helping her husband Harold with the church treasury for over ten years, and serving as Sunday school teacher. She had a green thumb, and was proud of her flower gardens. Eleanor also enjoyed Quilting and other sewing projects. She was especially proud of her trips to Germany, and went to the home of her ancestors in Langenholzhausen, Lippe-Detmold. Surviving Eleanor are her loving husband Harold; four daughters, Marguerite (David) Breisch, Kathleen (Todd) Walber, Charlotte Herwig and Elizabeth (Edward) Depies, seven grandchildren; Richard and Rachel Breisch, Erin Doherty, Nicole Walber, Courtney and Emily Waters, and Ella Depies, two brothers; Vernon (Sharon) Boedecker and Marvin (Suzie) Boedecker. Also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Irene (Roeder) Boedecker. A Funeral Service to celebrate the life of Eleanor will be held on Wednesday July 9, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Immanuel United Church of Christ W3694 County Road FF, Town of Herman. Reverend Frederick Trost, pastor will officiate. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery. Friends may call on the family at Immanuel on Wednesday from 3 p.m. until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established in the name of Eleanor R. Herwig. The Herwig family wishes to thank Dr. Mark Bettag and his staff at Marsho Medical, the staff of St. Nicholas Hospital Home Hospice, and the nursing staff at Rocky Knoll Healthcare, for the wonderful care Eleanor received.
