Elizabeth Verhelst

Elizabeth Verhelst, 94, of Sheboygan, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at home. Elizabeth was born April 11, 1922, in the Town of Wilson, to the late Martin and Lucy (Van De Wege) DeFeyter.
On November 21, 1947, Elizabeth was united in marriage to Lester Verhelst of Oostburg. He preceded her in death on January 16, 2009.
Elizabeth worshiped at Hope Strict Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Martin D. (Debbi) Verhelst of Oregon, Wisconsin and Jack Verhelst (significant other, Cheri Curtiss) of Town of Sheboygan; four grandchildren, Jami (Kami) St. Clair, Liza Verhelst, Andrew (Janice) Verhelst and Nicole (Kyle) Dragone and five great-grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lester, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sarah (Gordy) Ongna.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at 12:00 Noon at Ballhorn Chapels Funeral and Cremation Care Center (1201 N. 8th Street, Sheboygan). Pastor G.L. TenBroeke of Hope Strict Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Hartman Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established which will be used for Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
