Emma Balde, age 106, passed away Sunday evening, December 9, 2018.
Emma was number nine of ten children born to Christian and Christina (Eurich) Ruppel in Pleasant Prairie, WI on June 18, 1912. In 1913 the family moved to Sheboygan where Emma lived the rest of her life.. She attended St. Paul's Lutheran grade school and Sheboygan Vocational School (now LTC). On May 30, 1944 she married Christ Balde in the parsonage of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. They operated Balde's Tavern for thirty years. He preceded her in death October 16, 1976. Prior to her marriage she worked at Hand Knit Hosiery (now Wigwam Mills). She was a scout leader for both Brownies and Cub Scouts. She sang in choruses for most of her life, including being a charter member of the Golden Chordaliers and a member of the Concordia German chorus.
Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, sewing, baking, gardening and working crossword puzzles.
Emma had a great sense of humor and was a fun-loving person.
She was a member of Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Emma is survived by her daughter, Nyo Jeanne Entringer of Green Bay and her son, Marshal (Jean) Balde of Sheboygan; one granddaughter Christine King of Pewaukee; and two great-granddaughters, Hailey and Natasha.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 14, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. Pastor Randall Styx of Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Entombment will take place at Garden Terrace Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in the name of Emma Balde.
