Ernest A. Meise, 83, of Sheboygan, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice with his family by his side. He was born March 2, 1938 in Sheboygan to Ernst and Emma (Erni) Meise. Ernie attended Washington Grade School and graduated from Sheboygan North High School with the Class of 1957. He later furthered his education at UWM studying Leather Chemistry. Ernie proudly served in the Army National Guard.
On July 9, 1960, Ernie was united in marriage to the love of his life Judith C. Otte. Together they raised four sons: Jeff (Debbie) Meise, Tim (Lisa) Meise, Todd (Denise) Meise and Scott (Debbi) Meise.
Ernie worked for many years at Armira and retired as Plant Superintendent for Amcast Diecast in Cedarburg. Having a strong faith, he was a member of Bethany Church in Sheboygan. He was an avid postcard collector. He was very active in local politics as a campaign manager for many years. Ernie loved food; he had a passion for cooking and grilling for his family and friends. He was a sports enthusiast, cheering on his favorite sports teams with the highlight of witnessing the 2016 Chicago Cubs World Series championship. Family was very important to Ernie; he cherished all the lasting memories he created with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ernie was a cancer survivor for 23 ½ years, long surpassing what was expected. It was by God’s grace and providence that Ernie and Judie were able to celebrate many wonderful family events, including celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary this past summer.
Along with his wife of 60 years, Judie and their four sons, Ernie is further survived by thirteen grandchildren: Ryne, Mark, John (Lauren) Kelsey (Fiancé Matt Bohr) Kristin (John) Brandes, Nicole, Micah, Jared, Kaitlyn, Maddie, Orion, Barry and Mirabelle; three great-grandchildren: Emma, Mason, and Owen; brother Bill (Betty) Meise and sister-in-law Margaret Meise as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Edward Meise and sister Marion Daily.
Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Saturday, March 27, 2021 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon at Bethany Church, 1315 Washington Ave., Sheboygan, with a private service to follow with Pastor Jon Garbison officiating. A private burial will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. COVID-19 restrictions will be followed; masks will be enforced and social distancing will be required.
The service for Ernie will be live streamed on the Ballhorn Chapels website at 12:30 PM on Saturday or can be viewed anytime after if you are not able to join us: www.ballhornchapels.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorials for Ernie may be made to Bethany Church or Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund. The family wishes to thank Dr. H. Marshall Matthews and his staff, Dr. Michael Johnson, the staff at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, and all of Ernie’s many caregivers for their loving care and compassion.
