Erwin J. Schirmeister, age 85, of Sheboygan, died Sunday morning, February 7, 2016 at Sunny Ridge Health Rehab Center.
He was born November 17, 1930 in Sheboygan to Charles and Frances (Gangelbauer) Schirmeister. He attended Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Grade School and was a graduate of Sheboygan North High School, Class of 1949.
Erwin was a lifelong carpenter, retiring in 1992 from Quasius Brothers. He was a member of Carpenters Local #657.
In his younger years he enjoyed golf, bowling, and attending Wisconsin Badgers football games. He was an avid Green Bay Packer and Milwaukee Brewer fan.
He was a lifelong member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Parish.
Erwin is survived by his sister, Elaine Schneider; nephews, Michael (Sandra) Schneider, Clint (Caroline) Messner, and Scott Messner; and niece, Lisa (Kerk) Evans; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Connie and William Messner; his brother-in-law, Henry Schneider; and his nephew, Philip Schneider.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2016 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Rev. Matthew Widder, Pastor, will be the Celebrant. A time of visitation will be held from 12 Noon until the time of Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
