Evelyn Kallio

Evelyn E. Kallio, 87, of Sheboygan, formerly of Forest Lake, MI, passed away Monday, October 19, 2015 at Sunny Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center. Evelyn was born July 2, 1928, in Munising, MI, to the late Yalmer and Mary Mattson. She married Martin L. Kallio, who preceded her in death in 1976. Evelyn was very active in the activities at Sunny Ridge and enjoyed country music. Survivors include two daughters, Justina (Robert) Des Armo, Kohler and Christina Johnson, Munising, MI; one son, James Pelto, Milwaukee; three grandchildren, Brian Des Armo, Gainesville, FL, Sara Des Armo, Kohler and Jarod Johnson, Munising, MI; one great-granddaughter, Camille Johnson. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Gary Pelto, one son-in-law, Bruce Johnson, four brothers and three sisters. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Sunny Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center (3014 Erie Avenue, Sheboygan) with the Rev. Tom Fleischmann officiating. Friends may call on Thursday, October 22, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Zimmer's Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center (Hwy 42 & JJ, Howards Grove). Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Chatham, MI. In lieu flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Sunny Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center for all the care they gave Evelyn through the years.
