Frank S. Jakel, 74, of Sheboygan, passed away Friday, May 23, 2014 at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center after hard fought battle with cancer. He was born September 15, 1939 at St. Nicholas Hospital to the late Frank John Jakel III and Josephine (Raik-Skrube) Jakel. Frank served his country in the United States Navy from 1958 until 1963. On July 29, 1967 he married the former Ronnafran Goeks at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. Frank joined the Town of Sheboygan Fire Department when he was 17. He was also the safety director for Eastern Wisconsin Firefighters Association. He was an active honorary member until his passing. Frank was active in Boy Scouts from age ten until the present. Frank was active at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, serving as Trustee-Treasurer and at St. Dominic Catholic Church. He was an avid outdoorsman his entire life and enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. Frank worked for forty years at the Kohler Company. In addition to his wife, Ronnafran, he is survived by one son, Frank R. Jakel, Pelican Lake; two sisters, Josephine (John) Baccoli, Rochester, NY and Mary Ann Pembroke, Rochester, NY; one sister-in-law, Judith Goeks. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four infant children and two brothers-in-law, Larry Penbroke and Reinold J. Goeks. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church (822 New Jersey Ave, Sheboygan) with the Rev. Paul Fliss as celebrant and Rev. Richard Cerpich as concelebrant. Friends may call on Friday, May 30, 2014 at Zimmer's Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center (Hwy 42 & JJ, Howards Grove) from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, at the church, from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Interment will follow the Mass at Greendale Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Sunny Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center and Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center and also Dr. Santhosh Kumar and Dr. Curtis Hancock.
