Gail Warnecke

Gail Warnecke, age 76, of Sheboygan, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Sheboygan Progressive Health Care Center, where she was surrounded by her loving family. Gail was born in Sheboygan on July 27, 1939, a daughter of the late Willard and Gertrude (Wippermann) Schmidt. She attended Sheboygan Falls schools, and was a graduate of Sheboygan Falls High School, Class of 1957. Gail attended Lakeshore Technical College, obtaining her apprenticeship in Cosmetology in 1957. On February 4, 1961, she married Wayne Warnecke at Grace Church in Kohler.

She began her cosmetology career by working at the Falls Beauty Salon in Sheboygan Falls. She opened her own business, the Golden Touch Beauty Salon in 1972, operating it until late 2011. Gail was active in her 54 years in the cosmetology profession, being a member of the county, state and national cosmetology associations. She was honored when former Wisconsin Governor, Anthony Earl appointed her to the Wisconsin State Board of Regulation and Licensing for Cosmetology where she served for six years.

Gail was an active, charter member of the Sheboygan Falls Jaycettes organization. She enjoyed music and participated in church choirs and praise and worship groups. She served as a Big Brothers-Big Sisters lunch buddy in the Howards Grove schools. Gail was a founding member of Word of Grace Community Church of Sheboygan Falls where she served as a member of their praise and worship team, hospitality chair and greeter.

She is survived by her loving husband, Wayne Warnecke of Sheboygan; two children, Lynn (Carl) Vollrath of Sheboygan Falls and Steve (Jill) Warnecke of Chesapeake, Virginia; six grandchildren, Christina (Shayne) McWilliams, Aaron (Lauren) Warnecke, Seth (Anna) Warnecke, Michael Vollrath, Shaun Warnecke and Kevin Warnecke; one sister, Diane (Nathan) Neumann of Somerset, Wisconsin, a sister-in-law, Marilyn Koehler of Odessa, Florida, a niece, Lara (Ross) Manthei of Stillwater, Minnesota, a special cousin, Janice (Mike) Marcheske of Sheboygan and other relatives and many friends.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents, her father and mother-in-law, her granddaughter, Allison Warnecke; her brother-in-law, Rick Warnecke; and her sister-in-law, Diane Warnecke.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 7, 2016 at 11:30 a.m., at Zimmers Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center (Hwy 42 JJ, Howards Grove). Derik Armstrong, Pastor, will officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, March 7 from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at the Sheboygan Falls Cemetery.
