Gerald Basler

August 30, 1935 — April 18, 2013

Gerald H. Basler, 77, of Sheboygan, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Azura Memory Care. Jerry was born August 30, 1935 in Plymouth, to the late Elmer and Marie (Anhalt) Basler. He was a graduate of New Holstein High School and then the Business College of Milwaukee. Jerry served his country in the United States Army from 1955 until 1957. On June 20, 1964, he married the former LaVerne Schneider at St. Mary's Church in Marytown. He was employed by Sheboygan Paper Box Company as a salesman. Faith and family were at the heart of Jerry's life. He took such pride in his loving wife, children and grandchildren. He was always grateful for all the blessings that God provided in his life. Jerry loved everything about the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. His north woods escape was his favorite place in the world. The Packers and Brewers had a forever fan in Jerry. He definitely passed the love of sports onto his children and grandchildren. Jerry loved walking endless miles, especially treasuring the moments with his dog, Daisy. God has called Jerry home; for now it is time to walk into your Father's loving arms. We love you forever. In addition to his wife, LaVerne, Jerry is survived by his son, Todd (Kathryn) Basler, Sheboygan; two daughters, Kristine (Jim) Zanon, Colgate and Michele (Robert) Mosnik, Howards Grove; seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Cassie, Jonathan, Joseph, Thomas, Benjamin and Grace; two brothers, Bernard, Plymouth and Keith, Cary, IL. In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his brother, Elmer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Jerry on Monday, April 22, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church (2133 North 22nd Street, Sheboygan) with the Rev. Philip Reifenberg officiating. Friends may call on Sunday, April 21, at Zimmer's Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center (Hwy 42 & JJ, Howards Grove) from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Entombment will follow the Mass at Calvary Mausoleum. A memorial in Jerry's name will be established by the family. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude for the compassionate care provided by the entire staff of Azura Memory Care as well as the staff of Grace Hospice.
