Gerald "Jerry" Roethel, 66, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice on August 27, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by family. Through his battle, he never lost his legendary sense of humor. He was born on March 24, 1948 in Sheboygan to Willard and Roma (Boeldt) Roethel. Jerry attended Sheboygan Falls High School. On July 6, 1985 he married the former Sonja Hoffmann. Jerry worked a variety of jobs including moving houses and managing a mobile home park. He most recently worked restoring and managing a collectable car museum. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his "kids" Nick and Diane. Jerry is survived by his son and dear daughter-in-law, Nick and Diane Roethel of Oakland, CA, his mother Roma Roethel, sisters Nancy Christian and Betty (George) Lorenz, nephews David (Trina) and Keith, and nieces Sheryl (Gregg), Dawn (Brad) and Brenda. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Sonja, father Willard, brother-in-law Ordell (Ozzie) and "buddy" Skeeter. A memorial service will be held for Jerry on Friday, August 29, 2014 at 6:00 PM at Zimmer Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center (Hwy 42 & JJ) Gathering from 4:00 PM until time of service. The Rev. Thomas Schroeder will officiate. Private inurnment will take place at the Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family or the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice are appreciated. The family would like to extend a special thank you for the patient and compassionate staff of the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic and the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
