Gordon Burl Sandmire, 83, of Green Valley, AZ passed away at home on April 29, 2024. He was born in Richland Center, WI on April 5, 1941 to Burl and Fern Sandmire. Gordon is survived by his wife of 61 years Sharon, daughter Sheila (Ricky) Eigenberger of Sheboygan, WI, son Michael Sandmire of Sheboygan, WI, sister Shirley (Donald) Beaty of West Salem, WI, grandchildren Nicole Sebald of Lynnwood, WA, Alexander Sebald of Portland, OR, Samantha Reetz of Sheboygan, WI and Sandra Reetz of Sauk City, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Karen Lasse.
Gordon possessed a thirst for knowledge, a quick wit and a wry sense of humor. He had a strong blue collar work ethic. Leisure activities included photography, golfing, fishing, hunting and camping with his young family. He and Sharon loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Alaska, Africa and Europe. Gordon was a passionate gourmet cook who created unique and flavorful dishes. He was a fine wordsmith who relished solving crossword puzzles. His musical taste ran the gamut from country to classical.
A Celebration of Life honoring Gordon will be held in Sheboygan, WI on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Ballhorn Chapels, 1201 N 8th Street, Sheboygan, visitation from 11:00-12:00 followed by storytelling. Lunch will be served after the service.
A heartfelt thank you to Gentiva Hospice and to CNA Anna Valencia for the exceptional care he received. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Animal League of Green Valley and to the COPD Foundation.
