Greg P. Gabrielse, 63, of Sheboygan, fought the good fight, passing away unexpectedly on Friday November 4, 2016 at his residence from complications resulting from MDS. He was born in Sheboygan on May 2, 1953, a son of the late John and Ella (Munnik) Gabrielse.
Greg graduated from Calvin College in Michigan with a degree in Business in 1974. He married his college sweetheart Cheri (Rop) Gabrielse on June 18, 1977. Greg was part of Gabe's Construction for many years, later working at Kohler and Plenco until his diagnosis.
His heart was full of love for his family and grandkids; showing his love through his commitment as their protector. He was always there for them and cherished spending family time together. He was a jokester and usually looking for his next victim to tease. Known as the Candy Man, Greg kept his father's tradition of keeping a pocket full of candy, sharing them with his kids, grandkids, his Pastor Derik, and anyone else nearby. Many fond memories of fishing the big lake with his kids on nights and weekends; later hot doggin' on the Jet skis. Greg loved all animals, nature, and working on his many creative projects. There are many loving memories of Greg and his grandkids working together in the kitchen and outdoors.
Greg and Cheri got their Harley Davidson motorcycle as their "retirement home" and enjoyed many cross-country trips. Known as "Stinkie" by his Biker Buddies, Greg's Harley was decked out with Skunk Tails and Skins, and he wore his trademark Skunk hat when out crusin' the open road with the love of his life, Cheri.
Surviving Greg is his loving wife Cheri; his son and daughter in law, Jon (Carri) and his daughter and son in law, Jessica (Brandon) Schwartz, both of Sheboygan; his grandchildren, Haylie, Kaylin, Braedyn Gabrielse and Hunter Schwartz.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents John and Ellen (Munnik) Gabrielse.
A gathering time and celebration of Greg's life will be held on Friday, November 11, 2016 at his home church Word of Grace Community Church, 837 Buffalo Street, Sheboygan Falls starting at 5 pm with the Service at 7 pm.
