Gwendolyn (Gwen) M. Kolbe, age 87, passed away peacefully at Songbird Pond Assisted Living Facility in Plymouth on September 2, 2024. She was born on October 5, 1936 in Sheboygan to the late Otto and Olivia (Thiele) Kolbe. She attended Bethlehem Lutheran School and graduated from Central High School in 1955. Gwen was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, and was a life-long member. Gwendolyn was employed at Gilson Brothers, Lawn Boy, and retired from Toro Distribution Center in Plymouth on January 8, 1999.
Gardening was her first love! She also enjoyed playing cards and going on bus tours and mystery bus trips. She was a big, big Elvis Presley fan.
Gwen is survived by her twin brothers Claude Kolbe of Chilton and Clifford Kolbe of Plymouth, her nephew Dean Kolbe of Sheboygan. She is further survived by her very special friends Shirley Ramey of Chilton, good friend Agnes Kunstmann, her dear helpful friends Phyllis and Gerald Rausch of Sheboygan, her long time friends Marlene Loesing of Sheboygan, Chris Baumann and Rita Dickfoss of Plymouth,Joan and Al Steinke of Plymouth, Ellen Meyer of Plymouth, Lillian Leslie of Beverly Hills, Florida, Shelley Gonzalez of Sheboygan, special neighbors Judy Kleijunas, Ramona and Rich Sponaugle and Family of Sheboygan, and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her grandparents, and her Aunt and her Uncle.
The family would like to thank the staff at Songbird Pond Assisted Living Facility for their special care of Gwen and their compassion during her stay there.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024 at 3:00 p.m., at Ballhorn Chapels, 1201 N 8th St. in Sheboygan, with Pastor John Schultz officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Burial will be private.
A memorial fund has been established in her name for Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Morning Meditations Radio Program, and the Sheboygan County Humane Society.
