Harold E. Grunwald was born Dec. 5, 1929 to Ewald and Edna (Gartman) Grunwald. He attended Johnsonville Grade School and was a graduate of Plymouth High School, Class of 1947. He worked as a Licensed Cheesemaker for several years and a self-employed Dairy Farmer for 40 years, retiring in 1994. On June 12, 1948 Harold and Vernetta V. Voss were united in marriage at the Evangelical & Reformed Church in the Town of Mosel. Harold was a member of the Johnsonville Fire Fighters for 34 years and a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Howards Grove since 1935 where he served on the Church Council and on the School Board. He also was an usher for many years. The couple had three children, Darlene (John) Posey of Valders, Margeen Paulson of Sheboygan, and Larry (Jean) Grunwald of Sheboygan Falls. Four grandchildren, Robert (Sue) Posey of Howards Grove, Jackie (Mike) Walden of Sheboygan Falls, Emily and Derek Grunwald of Sheboygan Falls. Five great-grandchildren, Andy Prevenas, Katie Prevenas and John Posey of Howards Grove, and Micah and Jaiden Walden of Sheboygan Falls. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Milton Grunwald; five brothers-in-law, Roland Nohl, Elgert Thoedter, Jan Mehre, Clarence Reichert, and Eugene Kimme; three sisters-in-law, Evelyn Thoedter, Grace Voss, and Corabelle Perronne; and one son-in-law, Eugene Paulson. He is further survived by one sister, Doris (Carl) Mueller of Onalaska; two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Grunwald of Black River and Alice Kimme of Howards Grove; four brothers-in-law, Emil Perronne of Sheboygan Falls, Edward (Melba) Voss, Jr. of Sheboygan, Gerald Voss of Edwards, and Elroy (Marilyn) Voss of Sheboygan Falls; six sisters-in-law, Marcella Nohl of Sheboygan Falls, Lucile Mehre of Whitney, Texas, Bertha (Richard) Hiebing of Townsend, Lorraine (Harvey) Schnell of Chilton, Linda Reichert of New Holstein, and Judy (James) Madson of Sheboygan; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, October 18, 2014 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Howards Grove. Rev. Tom Unke, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery. A time of visitation and support will take place at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established in his name. Harold's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for the excellent care and compassion given by Dr. Haid and all the nurses at Vince Lombardi Cancer Center, the staff at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, and Ron and Sheila Edler.
