Harvey George "Butch" Specht, 63, of Sheboygan, went home to be with his Lord and was reunited with his beloved son Christopher on Monday, January 2, 2017 following a long journey with Alzheimer's. He was born September 6, 1953 to in Sheboygan to Harvey A. and Evelyn (Bohlmann) Specht. Harvey graduated from North High School with the class of 1971. On June 10, 1978, he was united in marriage to Deborah K. Menzer at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. Harvey worked in the floor covering industry for over 40 years as an installer, salesman, estimator, store manager and independent contractor.
Having a strong faith, Harvey was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving as an elder, usher, on the Board of Properties, on the Lutheran Cemetery Board, and as a chairman on the 150th Anniversary church redecoration committee. Harvey also installed the tile in the church during the remodel, and flooring in the church school. He was the Co-Vice President with his wife of Trinity's School Parent Teacher League, and served as a Boy Scout Leader. Harvey was always on the go, not only busy with church and family, he also was a former member of the Sheboygan Home Builders Association, volunteering his floor installation services. He played the Trombone in the Sheboygan Wuerl Band, enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling and model trains. Butch loved to Polka dance, and listen to Jazz and Big Band music. He was always working on a home improvement project, and enjoyed his Leinies Beer and a symphony of desserts. One of his fondest memories was a fishing trip he took to Canada, each time the stories from the trip were told the fish got bigger and bigger. Family was Harvey's greatest pride and joy, he was so proud when his son competed in the Soap Box Derby and went to Nationals in Akron, OH. He was a proud dad, watching his daughter compete with her cheerleading and go onto and graduate from college.
Harvey is survived by his wife Deborah of Sheboygan, his daughter Stephanie ( Eric) Specht of Saukville, proud grandpa "Packa" to Luciana and Levi Specht, brother Steven (Megal) Specht of Sheboygan, sisters; Lynn (Jeff) Ledvina of Sheboygan, Jean (Don) Yaggie of Schofield, Mary(Tim) Rammer of Waldo, Fay (Terry) Rose of Sheboygan, and Darlene (Jack) Falle of Sheboygan, by brothers-in-law Darwin (Karin) Menzer of Plymouth and Darrell (Yvonne) Menzer of Sheboygan, mother-in-law Lucille Menzer of Sheboygan, God-children; Heidi Watson of OR, Matthew Falle and Amy Grunewald both of Sheboygan, also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved son Christopher (January 25, 1998), father-in-law Waldemar "Shorty" Menzer, and nieces Amanda Rammer and Samantha Specht.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 824 Wisconsin Ave. Sheboygan, with Pastor John Berg and Pastor Timothy Mech officiating. Burial will take place at Lutheran Cemetery at a later date. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Saturday, January 7, 2017 from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the CHURCH.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or The Gathering Place of Sheboygan Falls in Harvey's name.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Harvey's sisters and brothers-in-law; Fay and Terry Rose, Jean and Don Yaggie, Lynn and Jeff Ledvina, Mary Rammer and brother-in-law Darrell Menzer, special friend and caregiver Sandy McHugh, caregiver Kari Morales, neighbors The Ledeboers and The Lesperances, The Gathering Place and the staff at Compassus Hospice Care for all their love, comfort and support.
