Hazel Ziegler, age 91, of Sheboygan, died peacefully at her home on Saturday morning, November 1, 2014. She was born in Marinette County on November 3, 1922 to Louis and Augusta (Lemke) Leitzke. Her family moved to Sheboygan where Hazel attended local schools and was a graduate of Sheboygan North High School, Class of 1941. During WW II she was employed at Vollrath Co. On June 22, 1946 Hazel and Elmer Ziegler were united in marriage. He preceded her in death on June 16, 1987. For nearly sixty years Hazel was a faithful member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. In their younger years she and Elmer enjoyed dancing and playing dart ball. After Elmer's death Hazel continued to play dart ball and joined several widow's luncheon groups. Throughout the years Hazel worked seasonally at H.C. Prange Co., and as a food demonstrator for various grocery stores which she thoroughly enjoyed. She is survived by her daughter, Patsy (Kim) Steffen of Champlin, MN; and other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, Elmer, she was preceded in death by her infant twin brother, her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy (Mark) MacLeod; and her brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence (Ruth) Leitzke. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels and Cremation Care Center. Rev. Christian Gugel, Pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established in her name. Hazel's family would like to thank the staff of Home Sweet Home Again and Aurora VNA for the wonderful care they provided.
