Heinz Pfaeffle, 91, of Sheboygan, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at the Sheboygan Senior Community, where he had resided for the past four years. Heinz was born October 2, 1922 in Stuttgart, Germany to Gustav and Lena (Ackerman) Pfaeffle. He served his country in Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1945. On August 20, 1950 Heinz and Marion Mohr were united in marriage in Stanley, WI for nearly 56 years. Heinz graduated from Milwaukee Boys Tech High School, Class of 1940. He furthered his education at what is now the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, graduating in 1950, and obtained a PHD in the Department of Behavioral Disabilities at the University of Wisconsin Madison in 1968. He taught at South Milwaukee High School and worked for the Department of Public Instruction for three years then finished his career in the Special Education Department at UW-Whitewater. After retirement in 1983, he became involved in volunteer work, the Madison Senior Center, church boards and committees, art classes, square dancing, and ushered U.W sporting events for 14 years. He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen (Thomas) Ignatowski of Sheboygan; three grandsons, Jack of Milwaukee, Mark of Madison, and Erik of Sheboygan; and many friends. Private family services will be held for Heinz at a later date. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park in New Berlin, WI. In honor of Heinz memorials can be given to the charity of your choice. Heinz's family would like to extend a heartfelt to the caregivers of the Sheboygan Senior Community and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for the care and compassion shown to him.
