Hugh Albert Mahlendorf, age 74 of Sheboygan, passed unexpectedly on Sunday afternoon, November 16th surrounded by his wife Nancy and his son Dan. Hugh was born on August 7th, 1940 in St. Croix, Wisconsin and was adopted by Fred and Mildred (Mattias) Mahlendorf. He attended Central and North High School in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Hugh served in the United States Air Force as a radio technician in Minot, North Dakota. He worked at J.J. Koepsell Company in Sheboygan in the Electrical Distribution department and retired in 2003. Hugh also served in the United Way, Manpower, was president of the UAW cap council and was president of the Midwest Channel Scanners as he was active with HAM radios. Hugh and his wife Nancy moved to Princeton, Missouri in 2003 where he made his woodworking hobby-turned-business, American Wood Sign Co., into a full time endeavor. After eleven years, Hugh closed his business and returned to Sheboygan in 2014. He is survived by his wife of thirty-five years Nancy, his four sons Dan Mahlendorf of Plymouth, WI, John Mahlendorf of Sheboygan, WI, Brian Mahlendorf of Greenville, WI and Kevin Mahlendorf of Philadelphia, PA and his two grand-daughters Miranda and Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Cody. There will be a private celebration of his life at a later date.
