James "Jim" E. Goode, age 83, formerly of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2015 in Marshfield, WI. James had been a resident of the Town of Sherwood in Clark County for over 20 years. James was born October 17, 1931 in Iuka, MS to Mack and Alma (Pinch) Goode. He attended Gadsden, AL area schools. On August 16, 1958, James and Violet (Brunette) were united in marriage at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church. He was a long-time member of St. Peter Claver's Aid Society/Men's group, and also served as an usher. Violet preceded him in death on February 28, 2012. James proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps from March, 1952 to March, 1955, and the US Marine Corps Reserves until March, 1960, achieving the rank of Sergeant and receiving the National Defense Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Semper Fi. He was a 21-year member of American Legion Post 153 of Pittsville, WI. James worked at Sheboygan Tinsel from 1955 to 1956. He then worked at PLENCO from 1956 retiring in 1991, starting on the loading docks and ending his career as a Lab Technician. He spent his retirement years at his house and land in the country; hunting, golfing, walking in his woods, and riding his tractors. James is survived by his children; Gloria (Joel) Jelenc, John (Louise) Goode, Jayne (Jim) Krueger; his grandchildren, Amanda Jelenc, Rebecca Jelenc (fiancé Adam Bale), Adam Jelenc, and James Goode; and one great-grandson, Clayton LaFave. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, neighbors, and other relatives and friends. He is also survived by brothers; Clayton Hopper, Robert (Faye) Hopper, and Johnny Michael Goode; sisters; Jean (Clayton) Roberts, Eva Mae Myrick, Janice Fortenberry, Lindie (Roger) Daughtery, June (George) Colvin, and Mary Sharee Till; brother-in-law, Ted (RaeAnn) Brunette; sisters-in-law, Clara Belle Hopper, and Dorie Hopper. James was preceded in death by brothers; James Hopper, Clifton Hopper, William "Curly" Hopper, and Jimmy Earl Hopper, sisters; Adele Faulk, Mae Jenkins, and Mattie Petrus; brothers-in-law, George Brunette, Edward Brunette, Marcel Brunette, Norman Hoberg, Lawrence Porzadny, Charles Faulk, Dewey Jenkins, and Jimmy Fortenberry; sisters-in-law, Frances Hoberg, Veronica Porzadny, Carita "Pat" Brunette, and Marguerite "Jeanine" Brunette. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 10 at 5:00 pm at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. Deacon Michael F. Burch will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held from 3:00 pm until the time of service. A private family inurnment with military honors will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. A memorial service at the American Legion Post #153 of Pittsville will be arranged at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to an American Legion Post or charity of your choice.
