Jean Evelyn Leona Rahe-Hersant, 80, of Sheboygan, passed away Friday, February 17, 2017 at The Waterford in Plymouth. Jean was born September 29, 1936, in Birnamwood, to the late Gustave and Hattie (Kolbe) Rahe. On February 23, 1956, she married Henry Hersant in Wittenberg. He preceded her in death on March 3, 1997. Jean retired from Mayline after working 25 years. During retirement, she continued working at Johnsonville for four years. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Jean was an avid gardener and also enjoyed arts and crafts, crocheting, knitting and sewing. She also enjoyed traveling and her dogs. Jean was a proud grandmother of 16 grandchildren and made a point of remembering them on their birthdays and on Christmas.
Jean is survived by her seven children, Rita Anne (James) Killingbeck, Green Bay, Leona Redig, Sheboygan, Gloria (Jeffery) McCord, Cottage Grove, Cindy (Jesse) Bogenschuetz, Sheboygan, Joseph Henry Hersant, Sheboygan, Elizabeth (James) Warrens, Sheboygan and Julie Hersant, Sheboygan; 16 grandchildren, Christiaan, Tahnya, Jennifer, Charles, Benjamin, Michael, Brian, Angelina, Jeffery, Allisha, Tyler, Corey, Jacob, Amber, Jack and Emma; 23 great-grandchildren, Brady, Jasmine, Anthony, Hope, Carman, Adam, Aya, Kalla, Mya, Eric, Nicky, Aubry, Hunter, Mya, Presley, Olivia, Autumn, Allister, Luke Jr., Daniel, Conner, Olivia and John.
In addition to her parents and husband, Henry, she is preceded in death by three daughters, Mary, Susan and Donna; six brothers and sisters, William, Gustave "Sonny", Ella, Florence, Edna and Gertrude.
A funeral service for Jean will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Ballhorn Chapels Funeral and Cremation Care Center (1201 N. 8th Street, Sheboygan) with Rev. James Hartman officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday, at the funeral home, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will be at Wood Cemetery.
